Are you ready for some German Schlager? In the late sixties, there was a singer called Alexandra and her producers tried to give her an eastern/slavic flair. Yearning(The song of the Taiga) was one of the songs, she sang with her dark voice. I thought it might sound OK played on the mandolin and recorded it. I didn't use one of my usual mandolins but a four-string Cremonese model... OK, it was a ukulele in fifths tuning, but I'm seriously considering having a Cremonese built.
Very appealing tune and arrangement, and what a lovely tone from your Cremonese stand-in, Christian! Are those the Aquila Nylgut strings you are using?
Thanks John, these are indeed Aquila strings, but not the ukulele fifth tuning set, but a set for mandolin, which seem more solid to me.
Very pretty Christian!
