Boolavogue is an Irish ballad commemorating the campaign of Father John Murphy and his army in County Wexford during the Irish Rebellion of 1798. It was composed by Patrick Joseph McCall in 1898, the centenary of the Rebellion. The melody is taken from the old air Eochaill. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vABhItFLL-c
Nice tune Christian! Love the name!
Hi CC. John and I have played this but for some reason we never posted it. You have done a fine rendition here. Good to be back. I had some medical issues that needed attending to and still do but at least I can post for a bit again.
A fine tune and a very fine arrangement here, Christian. As Ginny says, we had a go at it a long time back and never got round to posting it. My late accordionist mate Derek MacDonald played this one as part of a set we had for Irish waltzes in our dance band days - Boolavogue, Slievenamon and The Gentle Maiden. It always went down well.
Thanks Frank, Ginny and John!
More fine playing, I like the hesitation in the step, Christian, very elegant.
Another fine contribution, Christian.
