This is a Scottish air, originally published by James Oswald in "The Caledonian Pocket Companion" (1760). My version is based on a setting by Evelyn Tiffany-Castiglioni, omitting strains 3 and 4 from Oswald (which are essentially the first two strains played an octave higher) and adding a low and high harmony line. Oswald's annotation was "moderately quick", so I'm playing it at a fairly brisk tempo for an air. Evelyn posted her arrangement as part of her 2017 Halloween collection: https://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/t...=1#post1604589 1921 Gibson Ajr mandolin (x2) Suzuki MC-815 mandocello Vintage Viaten tenor guitar https://youtu.be/DvR_6HcbRC8 For Simon, here is an ABC with all four strains: X: 1 T: the Old Witch of Ochiltree Q: "Moderately Quick" %R: reel B: James Oswald "The Caledonian Pocket Companion" v.2 p.159 #1 Z: 2018 John Chambers <jc:trillian.mit.edu> N: Rest added to 2nd and 4th strains' pickups, to fix the rhythms.
