Thomas Morley (1557-1602): "O Sleep Fond Fancy" & "Love Learns By Laughing First To Speak"
From "Canzonets or Little Short Songs to Three Voyces" (1602)

These are two of Morley's canzonets to three voices. I have recorded both of them on mandolin previously but this time I'm using the closest I have to a renaissance cittern -- my two 1920s Thuringian waldzithers. Both of these are originally for two treble and one tenor voice, which I have recorded as an instrumental trio, using my 1920s 10-string waldzither in CGDAE for the two treble parts and my 1925 Zimmermann 9-string waldzither in (G)DAEA for the tenor part.
