These are two German waltzes that I have learned from the book "Das kleine dicke Liederbuch" -- one the songbooks I've inherited from my mother. The second tune was also recorded by Fiedel Michel in the 1970s, in more or less the same setting (see https://youtu.be/eLzSyv-lwDg).

Both tunes have been trancribed into ABC format:

Both waltzes are new to me. Fine playing by you as usual.
Thanks for the link to Simon Wascher’s site. So many material… A lot more than a man can play in his spare time.

Martin made me curious about the songbook "Das kleine dicke Liederbuch". Meanwhile I ordered an edition – a real treasure.
I decided to record the Mecklenburger Dreischritt on mandolin and English concertina with guitar backing.

Video footage shows Kurort Rathen in the Elbe sandstone highlands near Dresden, Saxony. We took a paddle wheeler upstream to the fortress Königstein.

That sounds really nice, Frithjof, and the concertina makes it sound very German indeed. I also really like your tempo, just a bit more relaxed than mine and all the better for it. Learning the concertina is on my list of things to do although I will probably only get around to it when I retire and/or when I inherit my father's (fairly low grade) English concertina, both of which is likely to be quite a few years hence still.

Glad you enjoy "Das kleine dicke Liederbuch". Rather matter of fact naming as it is indisputibly klein (small) with its A6 format and teeny font size, as well as dick (thick), at 800 pages. A bit like Mao's Little Red Book

Nicely played by both of you, Martin and Frithiof!

Nice tunes! And a bit of concertina as well, which works a treat.

Another fine tune, rendition of the tune, and introduction to a book by Martin. Extent of knowledge never ceases to amaze me.

And then, a mighty fine version by Frithjof…and I agree with Martin, the concertina and tempo really enhance the tune…and a nice video of a location I am not familiar with.
