These are two Baroque bourrées by Henry Purcell, the first in G major and the second in A minor. Originally for harpsichord, adapted for mandolins and tenor guitar.

Thanks to Nigel Gatherer for the setting:

Nigel doesn't give any source or Zimmerman catalogue numbers, so I'm not sure where they are from. I suspect they were not originally intended to be played together, but it works well this way.

You have certainly got a real liking for Nigel's settings recently, Martin, and he has such a wide range of genres to choose from. Two lovely Baroque pieces here and very well performed by you. The tunes suit the Embergher so well.

The combinaton of tenor guitar and Embergher mandolin gives a special feeling to this Bourree, well played as usual, Martin.

Thanks, John and Christian. I need to catch up on some more Baroque tunes -- I've been neglecting them lately, and the tenor guitar is such a good match for continuo bass lines.
