This is a Scottish slow air first published in 1816. My version is based on harmonies by Peter Macfarlane for the Vermont Fiddle Orchestra:

    1921 Gibson Ajr mandolin (x2)
    Suzuki MC-815 mandocello
    Vintage Viaten tenor guitar

Nice one, Martin. It is a great slow air. I posted this tune away back in November 2010 and it is interesting to compare our two approaches and choice of instruments. I used a freebie synth cello effect (cellofan) I still have along with electric guitar and octave and our arrangements are quite different too.

Two very enjoyable versions, Martin and John.
Nice to get some Scottish landscapes to look at while listening to your fine version, John.

    Thanks Frithjof and John.

Very nice version from 2010, John -- I don't think I've seen this one before. I like the cello effect. Very haunting.

Thanks, Martin. The cello is fun to play about with. I play it via an M-Audio keyboard plugged into my computer and DAW. The M-Audio has no sounds of its own but relies on whatever software synths I have loaded into the system. Hours of harmless fun for all!
