thanks folks, Ginny, Andy Tobin made me a mandolin around 15 years ago, years later i traded it in for a gibson white face which was superb but i always regretted parting with the Tobin, so Andy kindly made me another earlier this year

Lawrence, I like the full body with the relatively short fretboard. Almost looks like an octave - but with mandolin sound..I really like it.
i think of it like a mini bouzouki, its so loud it requires a light touch, which isn't exactly my forte
