Re: Lyra and Vega vintage mandolins

I like the Vega mandolin. Looks like a 201 model (this is mine).

It looks like the original cloud tailpiece is missing?

Mike's estimate for the Vega sounds right depending on condition.

I'm interested to try one of these. Heading to Nashville soon and will be making a point to play one in person.

    Re: Beware EVOs

On one of my Brentrups I swapped out the original frets for Evo golds with no change in tone, just easier to play. This is a darker, warm sounding mandolin in general and it kept its' character...

  12. Re: "The Greatest Mandolin Performance Ever"

For me it's between two performances I saw live:

Chris Thile performing Bach solo in Albany, NY. We were front row solo and Chris was playing his Loar only a few feet from us. I don't think I'll...

    Re: The Brentrup Mandolin Registry

Like any mandolin it depends on the model, condition, tone, and playability. But in general prices went down along with the US economy, but they have been steadily climbing back up again. I think...

    Re: The "Florida" ???

I would think that Uttar Pradesh, home of the Taj Mahal, would be the most famous region frequently referred to as “U.P”.

Google “U.P. Region” and see what comes up.
