I put this up on Soundcloud in late June, and I see it's now been played three times. So I'm giving it a little nudge. Quartet number for mandolin, guitar, bass and drums, recorded around 2007. ...
I've liked everything they've done so far. And Andrew is a phenomenal mandolin player. But that video? A big meh from me.....
Gibson A0 and Taylor 414 on top - some cowboy jazz? near the end.

I just picked up a two point. The only two point he made with a torch and wire headstock. The back and sides were cut from a tree in my home county, which is also Mr. Stivers home county. I couldn’t...
After initiating a thread on Stiver mandolins when I ordered mine one year ago and now having had in my possession mine after nearly three months I thought a review was in order. I would like to do a...
If money was no object and tone the only goal I would practice all day instead of working.
Just an opinion here, but I would not rule out a Stiver. But, that is to say many builders exist building fine instruments available at your cost point and you will ultimately get many fine...
This may be corny but its true: picking up the mandolin brought me here. I enjoy being here as much, but in a different way, as playing.
Starting this as a companion thread to the "why mandolin" thread.

I picked up my new Stiver about seven hours ago at Lou Stiver's home. Upon installing an arm rest and a strap I have barely set it down.
I no longer miss the Collings I sold to help fund this...

I'm not sure as to how or what is involved with maintaining a registry. As a soon to be new owner of a Stiver Mandolin ordered directly from Mr. Stiver, I may have interest in following up with this...

All instruments have a story -- and musicians are eager to tell their part in it.
Introducing a new interview series with host, Demetrius Becrelis, who invites musicians to share how they came to...
Please ditch the notion you have to reach a level of ability to deserve a fine instrument. For one thing, builders would go broke. Buy what you want to for whatever reasons but this one. My mission...
