Ashokan Farewell.
Ashokan Farewell.
My next mando will be an oval. Starting to look like it will be a Mike Black A2z.
I have Marilyn Mair's book The Complete Mandolinist and I am also taking lessons through Artist Works with Caterina Lichtenberg. I've been playing mandolin about a year and a half. You can't beat the...
Sounds great!
Not recent but you might try Steve Earle's album The Mountain, with the Del McCoury Band. It's got some mandolin on it and the songs are all originals.
That was great. I thought I recognized the title. I have this song performed by Deiseal on the Narada Celtic Legacy CD but it sounds quite different.
Very nice.
Great tune, I’ve been playing David Benedict’s version. There’s quite a bit of melody in that song that makes me think of the Pogues Waxie’s Dargle.

I released my first solo record today Tell Me Your Love is True. It's available on iTunes and can be heard on youTube, other digital platforms to follow. I play mandolin on 2 songs, Long Winter Night...
Sweet tune!
I like that, great tune.
Wish I did, it's a beauty.
Maybe capo on the first fret - Ab minor?
I like it. Makes me think of the mandolin part in Spinal Tap (Stonehenge) and the line in The Lord of the Rings... "He doesn't know about second breakfast?"
What are you using to record? Software,...
As a resident of Hutto, go to Lockhart if you can.
Received, thanks! Sounds good.
I didn't like the way my Eastman MD315 balanced either... especially with the strap around the f curl. I started putting a thin piece of leather under the strings below the nut. It balances great...
Some of the material in the two books overlap. A lot of timed, sense-bound "Object" writing exercises.
Example: Write for 5 minutes using an object (let's use 'Soft Bed' as an example) to get you...
I have no experience with songwriting workshops. I bought a couple songwriting books, Songwriting Without Boundaries and Writing Better Lyrics, both by Pat Pattison, who is a professor at Berklee...
