Thanks; I've been curious about Israeli mandolins ever since I heard about how the tradition started, and the new mandolin designs and fine players.

Thanks - I was wondering if it had an inner soundboard or not. I'd love to play it either way.
Sounds great to me!
Did you adapt any of Kerman's ideas into your designs?
They are beautiful.
That looks like a fine instrument - a bowlback with a few new ideas!
I think the development of the mandolin in Israel has been wonderful.
Very nice, Yaron. I do love the sound of that one.
I tried to embed the video from Facebook but the BB code didn't quite work.
You can be proud of this one! Sounds and looks amazing!
Thanks for sharing!
I really do like the overall design, especially the beautifully 'rounded' body shape = comfort !. Very nice work,

Neat idea with the jack coming out of the knot
I like it, looking forward to more photos of progress/completion.
I believe it's the first movement to Bach's G minor partita.
Beautiful instrument, Yaron, and I love the sound. I look forward to seeing your future builds and also hearing some additional recordings on this one.
One question unrelated to the instrument,...
+1.
Bill and I are being really hyper-critical as well... just in case you couldn't tell ;)
Definitely worth building more of.
I think it's just ambience and fairly high gain on the audio recording. Meaning you hear the sounds of moving and fretting more than you would on a studio recording where a more focused mic is placed...
Quite astute comments, John, and I agree with them. It is hard to tell what is because of the instrument and what is from the surroundings. I do agree the second recording is much clearer. It is also...
Many thanks for the videos Yanon, these are most interesting!
There's quite a bit of "ambience" in the recordings, so it's hard to tell what's intrinsic to the instrument, and what's coming...
This has an echoey sound to me, perhaps because of the double top. What I mean is that the notes seem to have several resonances at once. This muddies the sound a bit to my ears, but also creates a...
Wow! That's a beautiful mandolin. Amazing work. I want one
Cool-looking mandolin! :mandosmiley: :)
Love the idea and the laser-cut sound holes. Lovely.
Have you seen Brian Dean's Grand Concert mandolins? They have a double top as well. I could not find a photo but I think there is a discussion with pictures of them on the mandolincafe archives.

Toda.... it is very nice. Can you post a sound sample. Shalom.
Yaron, I really love the scroll work in those soundholes - the oud soundholes on your picasa pages are amazing too - I won't ask you how many you break ;) but what do you cut them from - spruce?
I'm tempted to pop together a violin with an inside thingie of some type for fun. I have a difficult time visualizing how all this works! Too many experimental instruments for me to make, plus our...
