    There is no "right way" to learn improv. While the goal is to be able to flow without thinking (subconcious), no player can ever do this without a whole lot of concious improv work in the practice...

    I also have arthritis and have to make two note chords now days but I still play with the band and I have learned to do two note chops that are not as good as four note chops but they do the job...
