I'm liking it so far!
It's another great place to share ideas and get positive feedback. Not really geared towards pro players, but I think it's great for amateurs and beginners and those of us who...

Just to clarify, I signed up for the Academy that was mentioned in post #5, not the Comprehensive Mandolin course. Two different options on Baron's site. You can sign up for either one or both.
I'm a bit late, but I signed up.
Thanks J.C.
I did a little research. Mr. Nyberg builds some impressive looking instruments.

It's in the Classifieds. NFI.

I've been slowly converting to this method. It takes some practice, but I think it's a good way to do it.
Other than trimming the strings there's no tools necessary.
I bend the loops with my...

An early Orville or a Martin Style E.
Gibson snakehead necks aren't huge. I wouldn't disagree with a Pomeroy. A Mike Black is another option, but I think it would be easier to find a Gibson than either a Pomeroy or a Black used for under...
NMC, but it's kinda Spooky!

I've been enjoying it. It's been part of my daily mix for the past month. Is it bluegrass? I don't know. Close enough for me. There's no drums! Is it good music with great players? Absolutely yes!
I would consider a Girouard like this one:

Beater is in the eye of the beholder.
It doesn't look like Sam to me. I see a resemblance to Levon, but it doesn't line up logistically. The Band played Santa Cruz,CA on 8/27 and played in Stockbridge,MA on 8/29. Steve Goodman played the...
For me it would depend on what the comparable flat top is and what the prices are. I've come to find that I prefer a carved instrument, but I still like flat tops too. If prices were the same I would...
I’m bidding. It looks like a perfect companion to the Developer that I’ve acquired. With both of these gadgets I see great improvements in my playing. I just have to figure out how they actually...
I wasn't sure who wrote it, but it works well on that album. I think she deserves credit, but I don't know how to fix that. I've been knee deep in the hoopla.
How about a fun little unpsychedelic tune?

I'd love to see a prelude of Molly playing Embryonic Journey.
I have 2511's on one of my mandolins and both sides do lean to the right. I actually just ordered another set yesterday for another mandolin and I'm planning on them both leaning to the right. I...
Thanks for the info Matt. I haven't been to Idaho for about 25 years, but who knows what the future holds. I admire your spirit to seek out and find the jams wherever you go.:mandosmiley:
I like this Pomeroy. I prefer a thinner nut width, but if I was interested in a wider nut width I'd strongly consider this one....
Hopefully not. Maybe they're discontinuing the F-9 to reintroduce the A-5 as a more affordable Gibson model. We'll see. I have my fingers crossed.
