Re: Bill and Charlie Monroe picture

Kinda looks like a flattop to me. I guess without a date of when the photo was taken we can't be sure. If Bill is in his early twenties in the photo then it might possibly be a KM-11.

Re: Bill and Charlie Monroe picture

    What is Monroe playing here?

Looks like an oval hole. Maybe even a flattop. Too early for a KM-11, right?

Thanks for sharing this piece of history. Bill appears to be in his early teens in the picture.

Really nice, Skip. Is it a flattop (induced) or carved top? Have a shot of the back?

  12. Re: Bill Monroe and His Blue Grass Boys Songbook #1???

It's for real. I have spoken to Tom Ewing about it, who knew nothing about it. That would mean in his 25 years of researching Monroe for the book, he never ran across one. He suspects when the...

Re: Post a picture of what's on your bench?

It has been a while since I posted a picture of what is on my bench.

First I put a new fretboard with gold Evo frets on my Black A-4. For some reason there was an inbuilt curve in the neck. So I...

Today I have confirmed the existence of what I believe to be potentially the first song book of Bill Monroe. I cannot find any information for this book existing. This book here was on eBay and I was...

I kind of like the scroll. It looks like something from "The Nightmare Before Christmas" (reversed).

Your joinery is indistinguishable from perfect, John, at least in a photo on the internet. I'm trying to imagine me having to lay out that joint and it blows all the geometry circuits in my head.
