I'm looking for recordings of SOLO mandolin, along the lines of Evan Marshall. No accompaniment, no singing, no banjo, no duet, just ONE mandolin... or mandola, mandocello, OM. Different genres (like Evan Marshall), even with effects, but just a single player. They're a bit tough to find somewhere other than YouTube.
I ran across a YouTube performance of Sarah Jarosz "Peace" and I loved it, but the original recording has accompaniment. There's tons more on YouTube, but I'm trying to find good studio recordings (or live) on iTunes (I subscribe).

Re: Solo Recordings - 1 Mandolin
To my ears, the best solo mandolin recording in any genre is Gertrud (Tröster) Weyhofen's album of the 10 preludes by Calace. Here it is on Spotify.
Referenced by Rick Jones in the prior thread: "Solo Swing" - Brian Oberlin has several solo (some with vocals) mandolin CDs, available from his website. Good stuff!

Re: Solo Recordings - 1 Mandolin
Baron Collins-Hill released a solo mandolin album of Old Time tunes. Good stuff here:
I just checked iTunes and was pleased to see that my solo mandolin CD - Deer Tracks (for solo mandolin) - is listed. They've created a nice little page that includes four of my CDs and also links to my Mel Bay books. I didn't know this existed, so thanks for leading me to this.
The Deer Tracks CD is a collection of 20 or so short, quirky solo pieces that may or may not float your boat. See what you think:
Or go for something a lot different. Solo screeching electric mandolin ala Master Alex Gregory's 13 13 Jokes for Heavy Metal Mandolin, hosted on the Cafe's MP3 page.
Too bad you don’t care for vocals, Brian Oberlin’s stuff is awesome, solo mandolin but some songs with vocals along with the instrumentals.
It's not that I don't like to hear singers. I just find solo mandolin more inspiring, plus I'm not a very good singer. That being said, I hate guys like Brad Paisley, Keith Urban and Vince Gill because I'm so darn jealous that they can sing like birds, play guitar like mo########ers, have adorable wives, their pretty well off and gear hounds. Worst of all is the musical genre pool they swim in (just my jealous opinion. Actually I admire the ***&^%% guys.)

Robin Bullock's J.S. Bach Suites for Mandolin Volume One. He uses 3 different mandolins. You can compare and contrast.

Also, check out Mandalone by Tim O’Connell
Thanks so much, Mark! MandAlone is available as CD or download on my website, www.timconnellmusic.com
And for the original poster, I just received Caterina's new album Solo and it's excellent.
Cheers, everybody!

Re: Solo Recordings - 1 Mandolin
The tunes on this album sound like 1.5 mandolins, because Zenkl used a variety of split tunings.

'Mandolin Mondays' here and on You Tube . TONS of GREAT solo mandolin .'
Thanks, all! Great music mentioned above. Mario Poletti's "One Man One Mandolin" is a timely release too. It's just what I was looking for, as well as many of the suggestions above. An issue I'm having is getting some of these on my phone to play in iTunes for listening at work and in the car. If any one has any ideas how it can be done since the latest .ios updates, it would be appreciated.
