blues mandolin, St. John's, Newfoundland
I was just watching this year's annual tribute to my old folklore professor and bluesman extraordinaire, Peter Narvaez. I was pleased to hear some fine blues mandolin by Dave Rowe of The Lo Yo Suff, below at 44:00. Laura Winter is playing some more basic mandolin at 36:00. The folklorist and folklore scholar, Neil Rosenberg, is playing blues guitar at 30:00 -- who even knew he played blues guitar? St. John's has a very good blues scene. The whole show is worth watching, but I don't know how long the show will stay on YouTube.
If the links don't work, try "The 9th Annual Tribute to Dr. Peter Narvaez" on YouTube.

"The folklorist and folklore scholar, Neil Rosenberg", above, should have read, "the folklorist and bluegrass scholar, Neil Rosenberg".
Looks like the video is linking now. The picture above shows Neil Rosenberg (l), Peter Narvaez (c), and a third musician (r) who I don't know.
