Re: New MP3 by Mark Daly - Abstract Expressions from the album Ab
Here's some additional info on this one directly from Mark. This is a single so we typically don't do news releases so this kind of serves that purpose:
Abstract Expressions, relates to the Abstract Expressionism art movement which emphasized an artist's freedom to spontaneously create through nontraditional styles. Jackson Pollock’s (1912 - 1956) “drip technique” paintings are well known from the Movement, where he poured paint in long continuous fluid lines onto large canvases on the floor.
Abstract Expressions features mandolin, mandocello (Mark Daly), saxophone (Rob Dixon), banjo, rhythm guitar (CW Mundy), and double bass (Nick Tucker). The tune’s cover artwork, created by Mark, pays homage to Pollack. It meshes expressions of music and art.
While enjoying the tune, listen for mandolin and sax passages that attempt to musically emulate paint being dripped onto canvas.
