I'm quite pleased with my Bailey straps. I have two of them.
-
i use a broken B@njo strap i found in the junk bin at elderlys. got it for $2
-
I like and use straps from Longhollow Leather ... on the internet ...I have no connection other than as a customer...
-
Longhollow Leather for me as well. Very nice and comfy.
-
I just realized I put this in the wrong section. Maybe one of the moderators could move it to equipment?
-
I've been real happy with my El Dorado strap. It has a nice width and doesn't move around much. Also looks mighty fine on my mandolin. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/...cons/smile.gif

We have the Jim Avery braided straps on our mandos. Nice braided straps. Got mine at Bean Blossom from him. He goes to IBMA too. Elderly has them for $40. I think FQ still has some for $50.
Great strap.
-
I am very pleased with my Bailey strap. Nice custom strap made to match color of mandolin.
-
Another endorsement for "The Bailey"...of my eight acoustic mandolins only one doesn't have a Bailey...
-
I like the Long Hollow braided softy. I've never had it become uncomfortable or dig into my shoulder after playing all night.
-
Leather boot lace here for my F5. Hangmans noose at either end. I love the subtlety of the boot lace. I also personally find it comfortable to play too.
-
-
Second the bootlace, only I take a pair and braid the part that goes over the shoulder with noose-knots on each end.
Makes a functional, good looking strap for about $3.00.

there Ya go: buy one , or make it yourself.
I like the cotton belt one I had a nice girl at a crafts booth
at the local outdoor Saturday Market made for me.
hand woven on a simple belt loom.
-
I picked up a couple of the Collings straps from Elderly. They're nice and comfortable and look good. I'm not one for the thin rope-type straps.
-
Dog Leash, Hartz Mountain, $5.00, snip off the clip (put your keys on it). Poke a hole in the clip end not too big, loop the "handle" around the scroll. It helps the "Bark!"
-
Again I gotta mention the great Sully's Straps. I've got three.
-
I purchased a "Baily" about a year ago, looks great and very functional. I like it a lot, and have had quite a few favorable comments.

We bought a bunch of the "Dude's" when they were offered. Great straps!

Leather boot laces with hangman's nooses do make good straps. Mandolins are light, so something skinny is enough. I do like these little Morgan Monroe straps: http://cgi.ebay.com/Braided....iewItem It's the best thing they make. Black, braided, neat, and I can leave them on the mandolin in the case.
The flat-braided ones are even nicer and still fit in the case: <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/Flatwound-Leather-Mandolin-Strap-Black_W0QQitemZ130221766320QQihZ003QQcategoryZ1017 9QQssPa

The problem with the bull-whip type strap is that I don't find them more comfortable, really, and sometimes they don't fit in the case without removing them.
It can be nice to have a suede strap that doesn't slip, but if one uses a vocal mic for mandolin solos and needs to slide the mandolin up near the face, a slippery strap can be more useful.

I just use a guitar strap. It works fine.
-
I own two "Sully's Straps," and bought two more as gifts for family members. Pat Sullivan is the best. Take a close look at his vintage straps.
