Whats up with the child size piano and drum kit?
Link Wray is awesome. Without Link Wray we wouldn't have the Cramps or the Stray Cats or Surf Music.
Jamie
Yea! No cords coming out of the guitar or bass. Also the drum player is out of sync.
Yeah, I've often wondered what it sounded like there, in the studio. Usually they just mimed, but some must have played, too.
Oh, and it was not uncommon for rockabilly drummers to have simple kits, and play standing up.
Then there was the Frankie Laine version!
Captain Obvious says: "You realize these are three different songs with the same name." :whistling: (Including Bill Monroe's song in this enumeration.)
This isn't. It's a take on Frankie Laine's song. Notice I'm saying "song," not "version."
FWIW, I don't know why Elwood's response to the suggestion is "Rowdy Yates." That was Clint Eastwood's character on the TV series, "Rawhide." It ain't no part of nothing to do with the song.
BTW, here's a trivia question. There are three different songs with the same title that made the billboard Top Ten. What is that title?
Okay, I will venture to answer the trivia question posed by JB..... Stairway to Heaven.
Neil Sedaka 1960 (pretty lame)
Led Zeppelin 1971 (the classic we all know)
The O'Jays 1976 (smooth) but it was the B side of "Living For The Weekend".
Nope. Led Zep never released it as a single. Surprised to learn Neil Sedaka's song by that name made it to "9. I've never heard it.
This should be an easy one. Two of the songs were really big hits, with lots of airplay, enough to make you (at least me) sick of them.
But probably no one around here's type of music. ;)
Ok, here is my next guess....."Jump".
Pointer sisters 1983
Van Halen 1984
Kris Kross 1992
Well, I'll be! :disbelief: That is not what [I had in mind, but it meets all the requirements. And furthermore it has the same number of letters as my answer - "Lady," by Kenny Rogers, Styx, and Little River Band. Well done! :mandosmiley:
As to the other matter, I disagree. The question is posed, "Remember the theme for "Rawhide?" Elwood replies, "The old favorite. Rowdy Yates." I aver, sir, he is referring to the music, not the show. After all, they are hurriedly trying to come up with something to play for the cantankerous cowpokes - not engaging in a trivia contest. ;) His offhand comment would thus relate to the song - mistakenly.
Well, kind sir, you call it as you see it ... IMO if it's a non sequitur then okay, it is a fitting one, which makes for an oxymoron: A fitting non sequitur ... and we find ourselves in the Land of Enigma. Life is short, enjoy the landscape.
Yes, sir. Good observations and advice. This is all speculation, natch, trying to make sense of the nonsensical. As always, BTW, FWIW, & YMMV. ;)
