1923 A1 Snakehead with Tortoise Back Binding???
From what I understand, Gibson produced several batches of F2s in 1922 and 1923 that include Tortoise binding on the back. I've got one, as does Dan Beimborn (#72838).
Just listed on Reverb is a 1923 A1 with Tortoise back binding. First one I've seen.
Maybe this is old news to the experts. Just thought I'd point it out in case anyone has info to share on this issue.
Here's the listing: https://reverb.com/item/67563214-gib...1923-snakehead

Re: 1923 A1 Snakehead with Tortoise Back Binding???
Searching in the f5journal database, I see now that there were at least a couple of batches of tortoise celluloid back bound A1s in 1923. I learn something new every day. I like how on these instruments, the neck heel profile is rounded rather than finished with a pronounced point.
Re: 1923 A1 Snakehead with Tortoise Back Binding???
There is a thread in the main forum where a person has posted a ca. 1923 A Jr. that might have original tortoise binding.
