Hubert Ries (1802-86): Duet for Mandolin & Mandocello (OM/Guitar)
Hubert Ries (1802-1886): Duet for Violin and Cello
I found this little violin/cello duet on Musescore, but know nothing about it other than the attribution "H. Ries". It's a lovely tune, and a joy to play!
Hubert Ries was a 19th century German composer, mainly known for his violin method. His brother (Ferdinand Ries) and his son (Franz Ries) were also composers, and are both more famous than Hubert. I have tried to identify this duet, but have not found it. It's not one of the 23 (very nice) duets in Ries's violin method.
The Musescore link is:

The duet is scored for violin and cello, which I have played on mandolin and mandocello. However, the cello part is entirely in the range of the octave mandolin or the guitar, so can be played as a mandolin/OM or mandolin/guitar duet without changes. I attach a PDF score with the cello part written in octave treble clef, for OM or guitar.

I have just re-recorded this mandocello/mandolin duet, this time playing the mandocello on camera and using a vintage bowlback for the mandolin part. Good fun on mandocello!

Very, VERY cool music and playing Martin. A great musical pick-me-up on a Sunday morning. I quite enjoyed this entire thread. Funny how certain kinds of music just make you smile. Thanks for posting Martin!

Many thanks, Tim. It's a really fun tune to play on the mandocello and I'm glad you've enjoyed it.

LOL and here I thought there was an Embergher behind door #2!
Seriously, the original post was in Sept, 2018. I only discovered it after you posted yesterday. I'm genuinely surprised the original music and video imagery didn't get far more response! There is something totally delightful about it and your equally as delightful updated rendition. Just seems strange it kinda' got passed over! Oh well, on to bigger fish!
