Hot Mandolin Times in the Old Town tonight
Michael Daves celebrating the 12th anniversary of his 10pm Tuesday night residency at Rockwood Music Hall, with special guests: Tony Trischka, Alex Hargreaves, Jacob Jolliff, Dominick Leslie and Erik Alvar. Man, oh man, everyone sounded great tonight. Including those twin Gilchrists ;-)
Gotta love this town when talent like this shows up for 'walk in' show, in a fine small room with very good sound. A real pleasure. Stop by when you're in NYC!

Hah! I almost thought Daves had switched to playing a Gilchrist instrument instead of his usual down-scale guitars. Phew!
Re: Hot Mandolin Times in the Old Town tonight
My niece lives in downtown NYC and could drop by there anytime. But of course she's not into music, let alone bluegrass. How I wish I could visit her and catch a Michael Daves jam show. I think the world of Daves and as appreciated as he is, I still think he is underrated.
Blessings you luck sucka. ;-)

Here's a nice video of 5 of the players. Hoping we can get another that will feature Dom.

Wow, awesome! How fun to see these virtuosos with Trischka. Jacob's right hand technique is pretty damn impressive...and of course Alex Hargreaves is just fantastic.

Yes! At first I thought Gangstagrass would be a silly gimmick, but the musicians really put effort into their shows, and I think they're doing something real and fun and meaningful. It's a great show.
