Suggestions for Core Classical Mandolin Repertoire
I'm trying to put together a list of classical compositions that should be the essential core repertoire for all classical mandolinists. I want this list to be a broad sampling of all the different classical styles for players at varying levels of ability. What do you think I should include? Thanks!

Hello dbmandolin,

Re: Suggestions for Core Classical Mandolin Repertoire
You could try:
www.sydneymandolins.com
and go to the composition link for a large amount of repertoire written specifically for mandolin in various instrumental combinations. A high proportion of these works have been released on CD - always handy.
The solo works, written mainly for Paul Hooper and Michael Hooper, are particularly important in the advancement of the mandolin oeuvre.

You can also check this directory of mandolin music on the website of the BDZ in Germany:

Re: Suggestions for Core Classical Mandolin Repertoire
Once again, the number 20 for "core" repertoire does not really work. What era? What regional variation of classical mandolin? What ensemble format?
