Has anyone use a K&K Dual channel preamp
I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the dual K&K preamp for a Phoenix Jazz mandolin which has two pickups. I have used the Radial Tonebone PZ-Pre
Any comments or comparisons would be welcome.

Re: Has anyone use a K&K Dual channel preamp
I may be remembering wrong, but the Phoenix Jazz has one magnetic pickup and that doesn't need a preamp and should go straight into an amp. Preamp on a transducer is a must, magnetic pickup, not necessary.
Re: Has anyone use a K&K Dual channel preamp
Thanks Pops,
It was designed to to plug them both into the suggested Tonebone PZ which has 2 inputs. Each input has a possibility to be adjusted for either a piezo or non piezo pickup. You then blend the two and send it to an amplifier or sound board. The cable demands the use of a stereo cable. I am looking at the K & K as a possibility to enable me to go completely battery operated. There is no battery option for the Tonebone. If anyone else has any ideas please join the discussion. I know this quite a specific topic.

Don't know if I fully understand but...

and the older

the latter seems to have been replaced by the former.
Re: Has anyone use a K&K Dual channel preamp
You could use a stereo plug, simply split it into two cords, one to a single K&K and one to the amp. Or you could make a box on the floor where you can split the stereo cord into two outputs, same thing one to the K&K, other to the amp.
Re: Has anyone use a K&K Dual channel preamp
Pops,
Why not blend the 2 and have 1 out to the amp or board and control the output with the preamp?

Barry
To elaborate on what I sent you - my bass player was using his for mixing his two pickups on his double bass. One's a kind of magnetic, the other a piezo in the bridge.
Hope that helps.
You'll be able to find an EDB2 somewhere on ebay I'm sure.

Opps, double posted this, sorry.
Re: Has anyone use a K&K Dual channel preamp
You can send a mixed signal to the board, but you would have to have a pre with a piezo input (1M) and a more standard input. A fishman amp might be an easy way to blend, it has one channel for a piezo, the other for a mic, the magnetic p/u could to the 1/4" on the mic channel. It has an XLR out to the board and independent volumes/tone on each channel. There may be a dual pre with both inputs that would be smaller and more convenient, but I can't think of one, still drinking coffee.
Rob shows the Headway, but the mic channel is XLR so you would have to use a high Z to low Z adapter.
Re: Has anyone use a K&K Dual channel preamp
it's got the optional mic input - there are two jack ins. the switches above the jack inputs dictate what type of input IIRC

I see it now Rob, missed it the first time I looked.

@ 1 Mega Ohm impedance , both channels , I assume, you need to route your magnetic pickup into a guitar amp not thru that pre..
1 mega ohm is OK for Piezos but a mismatch for a magnetic pickup..
The Radial as I Read it, PZ B input Mega Ohm Piezo range, .
Input A is a much lower impedance, an may be suitable for the magnetic pickup signal..
AC Via Wall wart powered rather than 9v battery too..
 Just RTFM ?
