Martin A model?
Yes.

Keep in mind that these were built with two different widths.

Thanks Mike, I was thinking of having some cases made. I have a nice hardshell case for my Martin, and was thinking of this right before Covid hit. Now thinking about it again, but didn't know there were two widths. I am thinking for the cant topped Martins, not the arch tops, if that makes any difference.
The link in the other post has expired.
The arched tops are a totally different animal. The Style A (and B) cant top mandolins have always been a bear to find a case for. That thread linked gives you some widths. In that thread you mentioned yours was 9 1/2 inches wide. They were also made in 9 inch wide.
Thanks Mike, I was clicking on the other link that was expired. May still send in my drawings for a case if there is enough interest. I would make it for the 9 1/2" body as there are way more of them.
I don’t have an immediate need, but I’d be interested.
Seeing as I have to order a couple dozen cases for a minimum order, and only a couple folks interested I will let this slide for now. Glad I put the feeler out and didn't simply order, and hope I could sell them. A friend of mine would like one and that's what started me thinking. Thanks all who replied.
Please add one to your number of interested folks. Thanks! Might even gift one to a friend.
I'll keep the tracings and idea floating around, thanks, Ed
I used an ukelele case
I have a 1950s bent top and would be interested. Came to me in a chipboard case, which offers minimal protection.
pops1 - you might check your pm's.
I'm thinking that TKL bought the company that made cases for the Martin A flat wood mandolins. Harptone comes to mind.
I used to buy cases from Harptone, miss that company.
I have a really nice F-5 case made by this company. It turns out they were making cases for recent Gibson instruments for year and were bought out by them in 2021. However, they seem to be under the radar for the most part. I thought they were out of business. On this page for hardshell wooden cases they do say they have no minimum. However... "There is no minimum order, however, upon formal quoting, GWW reserves the right to charge for tooling if necessary. You will have the final say in whether to proceed or not once quote is received."
Anyway, I don't know if you were already dealing with these folks, but it may be a shot. The case I have is very nicely made. https://www.gwwcases.com/Catalog/Woo...n_Cases.html#9
I wasn't Jim, thanks. If I peruse this I will check with them too.
I understand this conversation fizzled out earlier this year, but I would very much be interested if this ever comes around to being. The case I was using I have just discovered is infested with booklice…delightful I know. Even if you decide to do this a few years down the road drop me a message!
I would be interested in a case for my 1920 Martin Style A. I currently use a case that's too large.

Here is a dumbish question: has anyone ever contacted Martín for info on cases. I know they are no longer a production item however I have seen that koa Martín mandolin that was made I think in the 1980s or 1990s and been for sale for a decade or so. That probably came with a hardshell case.
Ah, here is that one, made around 1983 for the 150th anniversary of Martin. I assume it was made by Martin. Anyone have a clue?
