NMD, But there's a problem
The Kentucky KM-150 I had on order arrived today, but I have a problem. My violin playing daughter won't let go of it!

Re: NMD, But there's a problem
Congratulations! That is a great problem to have.
Re: NMD, But there's a problem
Well, you have your (first) excuse to buy another mandolin...

That's right, besides I don't have an F style...

Good for her.
You can always get another and start playing twin mandolin with your daughter. (The first time I did twin/harmony mandolin was truly special.)

Just tune it like a banjo and she won't have anything to do with it!
(Actually, a better solution is to get one for her too!)
Re: NMD, But there's a problem
The girl's a natural—look at that left hand! I assume you've ordered another?
Re: NMD, But there's a problem
The Suzuki method (classes that you both go to) is probably a great option now, it encourages cooperation between players of different instruments, experience, aptitude and age..
Re: NMD, But there's a problem
Upgrade to a 750. She'll be ready for that soon enough! LOL. (I tried to interest my sons in mandolin to no avail, but I never expected my youngest to run out and buy a banjo -- the shame of it all! :) )

Now there's an idea!
Can't play a duet without 2 mandolins

I came to mandolin as a classically trained violinist/bluegrass fiddler and self taught guitarist. When I picked up a mandolin I swear those old fiddle tunes and classical pieces literally just fell right out of it.

I'm sure you know to keep her playing and not throwing it down in pain (sounds like me...) you need a really good setup.

Action seems pretty good, nice and low. It isn't hard to keep the strings pressed securely against the frets.
Re: NMD, But there's a problem
My 9 year old keeps asking me when I'm only going to play my octave mandolin so he can have my Eastman. It's a good problem to have.
Re: NMD, But there's a problem
She's trying to strengthen her claim, has now given it a name.
You guessed it: Amanda Lynn
Re: NMD, But there's a problem
Face it: it's hers. What will you be getting for yourself?
