Re: Carbon fiber and fiberglass cases
It probably depends on how often you're taking it out of your house/apartment, but if I had spent enough money to own a Gilchrist, I would spring for a Calton. At that point, it's a few hundred to protect a five figure investment. Taking my own advice, at some point, Is hould probably spring for one myself. I still use an Eastman case I bought over a decade ago. Maybe I just got a good, maybe they don't build 'em like they used to, or maybe I got lucky, but that case survived being run over by a golf cart with nothing more than a loss of paint on the corner it got run over, and no damage to the mando inside.

circling back to this thread. https://www.musiccompo.com does not seem to be a working website anymore. Are they still around with a different name?

Don't know, but it's recent. After getting my Coombe was checking their site out in August or September for cases.
Re: Carbon fiber and fiberglass cases
I suspect they have stopped supplying individual cases. I ordered a mandolin case in June, but they refunded my money and said they were not intending to make any mandolin cases for quite some time, they were too busy and were concentrating on guitar cases. They are mostly an OEM supplier and with the Covid pandemic just about everyone in the music instrument business is getting swamped with orders. It is disappointing, but Chinese suppliers are not exactly very reliable.
Re: Carbon fiber and fiberglass cases
Found a Fiberglas Eastman A5 shaped case, to put my Mix Carbon A5 into. . many years ago
the mandolin now has a refret
Double damned?
(+ used to work in a company making fiber glass canoes )
Re: Carbon fiber and fiberglass cases
After much deliberation I was seriously considering the Bobelock Arrow case, there was a thread back in July/ August, but while researching found a good deal on a Presto case, very happy with that!
