Breaking down "the old home place" mando break
Has anyone else seen Wayne Benson's latest edition of Wayne's world of Mandolin released today? If not, here's the link: https://youtu.be/_TMYK8EtVEw?t=647
He breaks down Ricky Skaggs iconic break in Bb off the legendary 0044 album. What a tremendous record! What a band!!
Wayne's entire youtube channel is excellent with tons of great instructions, excercises, and techniques, but I especially liked this episode. I've been playing this break all night.:mandosmiley:

Thanks for the heads up - sounds like a good time. I was learning this song with our little after work music club before COVID. Definitely a tasty break.

I enjoyed that episode as I do all of Wayne's videos. I love his approach with what he calls "the big picture" or something of the sort.
IMHO, he knocks it out of the park with each & every episode.

Yea! One of the coolest breaks. I love all that 70s Skaggs stuff. Wayne is a great teacher and it is a really cool channel he has started. Help him out by liking and subscribe!

I've been meaning to work on this, so I appreciate the link and I am sure I will be watching that a bunch.
Re: Breaking down "the old home place" mando break
I just happened up on Wayne's Youtube channel recently. So full of great info, broken down in the easiest of terms. Very easy to follow.
I also liked the latest one with the Skaggs break.

First time I saw these, Wayne really brings the concept to life from the perspective of an actual "learner", as opposed to an accomplished player, which is a refreshing change. His real world examples have a "why" behind them rather than a "do what I do", highly recommended for players of any level.
