Re: "This mandolin was intact until my son sat on it"
She's back!
Whoever bought this wreck wants the sore losers to have another chance on buying it! He has described the state of the wreck in some detail but you would have to be a glutton for punishment to want to repair this near total disaster!

Better pictures this time, either that or I looked more closely.
I take back what I said about it being a project for a student luthier.
If the tuners are functional, it looks like those and the cloud tailpiece are all that is of any use, and they probably won't clean up to look particularly good. If it goes for more than the price of a cruddy set of suspect tuners and a cruddy cloud tailpiece someone is paying too much.

Asking $3.50 less than he/she paid for it. Is the plan to flip this? Sweet optimism. Ah, hope springs eternal in the human breast! :))
Re: "This mandolin was intact until my son sat on it"
Some years back, a music store owner called me to look at a Gibson J-50. It was his 30 year old nephew's guitar, and the nephew had backed over it with his truck.
The nephew loved the guitar, and was there at the store when I arrived.
He showed me the instrument. Not one piece of wood had survived unbroken.
The conversation went like this:
Nephew, in a wistful but hopeful voice: Can you fix it?
Myself: Noooo . . . :(

Could be removed in order to be re-priced and offered again.
Could be someone made an acceptable private offer.
Could be he decided to keep it after all.
Ah, who knows what's what with this mishmash?
