This is great stuff! IMO Tuonne taakse metsämaan is the best one. :) Is there anyway to buy the sheet music for my own collection?

Beautiful playing, Toomas. I may try them on my tenor guitar tuned to octave tuning. Finger style works nicely for that mellow sound, too.
I was curious about what the titles meant so I ran them through Google translate with some success (I think). Maybe you can provide better translation?
Also, do you play any Estonian music? I am curious how that may be similar or differ from the Finnish folk music.
01 What's up - 0:00
02 Behind that forest land 2:14
03 Judgment is on the edge of the stream - 3:48
04 The girl has a red ribbon - 5:50
05 When I walked on a summer evening - 7:23
06 The beautiful bright sun is shining - 8:45
07 May Masurka - 10:07
08 Longing for gold - 12:19
09 Aisankello ringing bang - 13:41
10 Rati riti ralla - 14:54

Thank you! Tuonne taakse was one of the first things I tried to play in Finnish music. Please send me a note via Cafe messenger, so I can send you PDF.

Thank you! My Finnish language skills are quite modest and I would be grateful if any expert here would take a critical look at my translations. In general you got everything right, I will only make a few corrections
01 Mithän tuollaasekkii - After all, (go to the floor)
The most problematic for me is the title of the first song. Thsese are the first words of the song, so for better understanding I translated the whole first line. I have tried but so far have not been able to grasp the meaning of the lyrics to this song...
02 Tuonne taakse metsämaan - Far beyond the woodlands green
I found a suitable translation from someone on the Internet
To the woodland far away
Longs my heart forever
There my heart shall ever be,
This no man can sever.
In a hut beyond the wood,
There lives my darling loved one.
03 Tuomi on virran reunalla - The bird cherry is by the stream, (under which I cried, to foreign countries my sweetheart went and left me here alone)
07 Maijan masurkka - Maijan masurka
Maija is a girls name
08 Kultaansa kaipaava - Longing for a sweetheart
09 Aisankello soida paukka – Jingle Bells ringing-banging

Beutiful songs, Toomas, and beautifully played! I'll definitely check the pdf, thank you!
Re: 10 Finnish folksongs play along.
Toomas, wonderful songs, and nicely played.
I also like to arrange European folk songs, but I haven't looked at Finland yet. Now I see that the quality arrangement is already here. Good work.

beautifully played Toomas!
I have learned some basic tune on mandolin in the last 3 months, and getting into double stops, any tips on how to get good enough to be able to play the tunes you have posted!?

The same question arose on youtube about the same video, so I added a short summary, which I will write here as well.
The hand positions in this technique are more like a guitar player than a mandolin or violin player. This generally means that the thumb of the left hand is behind the neck of the instrument, the right arm rests on the edge of the instrument and the palm is raised. So you can move your left hand all over the neck of the instrument and your right hand can play more than one string at a time.
I remember that when I started to play double stops and chords, one of the main problems was how to get my hands and fingers free from holding the instrument. It is difficult to move the hand that holds the neck. It took quite a while before I found such a position that the instrument did not fall out of my hand when I let my fingers open. Much depends on the shape of the instrument, how you sit and so on. Many of the videos on my channel are actually about how I develop this technique, test it in different keys, rhythms and moods, finding out better fingerings, better sound of the instrument, and the possibilities of using this technique. Looking back to my recordings in about in 2019 for example, I can’t say I’m very satisfied, I would do many things differently now, but so this journey is, you can't be there until you're not there. I'm glad this wonderful journey is still going on and I wish it to you too!
