Mowry siblings, 13 years apart!
I was able to commission an A-style mandolin from Andrew Mowry back in 2009, a decision based on all the great things I read about his work here on the Cafe (in addition to seeing Andrew's generous advice and compliments to other builders). That A-style has been my main mando ever since, and I still love it!
At the time, Andrew was just starting to make archtop guitars, specifically his take on the classic Gibson L-5. I wasn't in a position to order one then, but fast fwd to 2021, and I was able to get on his list with about a 1 year wait.
Well, here it is 1 year later, and I received the guitar today!!! :)
I have to say it exceeds my expectations in every way. The fit and finish are perfect, as is the intonation. The tone is unbelievable, too, especially for a new instrument. It's already sounding warm, nuanced, and just beautiful!
Andrew is a first-rate builder, and a first-class guy to do business with, as many here on the Cafe already know. Here's a couple family photos. . .

Were you tempted to order a GBOM?

Well, now, that would be the next logical step, wouldn't it? ;)

The one-piece back on that archtop is unbelievable!
