2021 batch of Forster mandolins
This years' batch of mandolins will start in a few weeks.
Lots of choices - most of you know my Big Celtic F model:

And the Big Celtic O:

Now there is also the Small Celtic O:

That's a satin finish one - it was a bit of an experiment that went well, so the new model will be full gloss.
And there is my nice little A model too.:

All of these are possible with a variety of woods for the back and sides - Indian rosewood, figured bubinga, figured sapele, Pau ferro, figured jarrah, birds eye maple, allsorts.
If any of you would like to jump in to this years' batch please drop me a line via my site.
When the batch starts, I'll post a build thread here on the forum.
Best,
Nigel

I'll take one of each Nigel.
It is so nice to see instruments not covered with awful colors and tints.
Your website is amazing.

There are only two spots left, so which two will it be?

For me, it's 'all or nothing at all'. I'll just have to settle for all in pictures. They are 'tops' on my list however. ~o)
I'm sure these will find a good home.
Re: 2021 batch of Forster mandolins
Just posted a more in depth blog post about the many design variations I'm doing this year.

Not sure if facebook links work here... Work is underway on the 2021 batch. Here I am roughing out a neck on the spindle moulder.

Re: 2021 batch of Forster mandolins
This years' batch got interrupted after the first two mandolins were made. I suddenly realised a chap had been waiting for his archtop guitar longer than he should, so I stopped work on the mandolins to complete that. Then I had a pair of tenor guitars to set up and send off, and other instruments to buff out, so it seems like weeks since I was in mandolin mode. But a nice reminder arrived today - a pair of cases to test fit for the Big Celtic F mandolins I make. I used to send these off in nice but cheap mandola cases, but they don't make 'em anymore. So after hunting about I found these - rifle cases. Very very strong cases. and big enough to fit my Big Celtic mandolins which are too big for a Hiscox.

So next week I hope to get back on with mandolin making after sorting out so many odds and ends this week.

Pretty cool looking cases, Nigel! Nice adaptation. And, of course, the instruments look amazing as well!

I love the case! It’s giving me ideas. I just saw the new Carlton pricing.

Another gem from you, Nigel. Beautiful blend of all the components that make up this lovely instrument.

I've turned pens & such from Wenge and love the grain. I can't remember seeing a piece this large! That's gorgeous!!

Beautiful work, sir.
The design work, materials and craft are all sublime.
The necks look like a dream to play.
The tailpieces, though. They are wonderful.
I'm sure you designed them. Did you make them as well?

The design is based on the old Sobell design, but the shape of mine is a little different. They are made for me.
