Yep..Glenn Lawson...and 45 or 46 bone
We had alot of fun at Union Grove...prob 1966 or 67. #Tut Taylor, #Hughie Wylie myself (1966 F5), and Fred Bartenstein on guitar..woops..almost missed little brother Mitch down there on guitar too
Beanblossom was fun too..1968 I believe..Tom McKinney, Rual Yarbrough, (I forget who), George Gruhn, Autrey Rowland, Myself, brother Mitch and Tut Taylor. #Tut is holding Loar 72615 after we returned it to him. #He had Loaned it to me for about 9 months
Wayne Stewart and I hung out at festivals..he invited Dad and I to come to Ky and visit. #He knew a good mandolin player about my age...Sam Bush. #Rowland White would jam at a chance too
Sam and I sometime around 1968 or 9
We can't forget Dad..here he is with his first complete refinish job...and his new 68 Catalina. Darn, I'm almost 15 years older than him in this picture now
...great stuff Darryl.....thanks for the step back in time....Alan...isnt that Ed Mcglothlin on the bass with the 'Gents?...he was there before Ferris....I could be wrong.
Thank you Darryl!
Looks like Boom-Boom to me.
Ed Ferris I believe..thanks BiGJoE
Loar wars...OK..then we started having real fun...think Skaggs looked like me or me like him??
another..these were at the Redgate festival..probably 1976 or 77
Actually..The Knoxville Grass started doing well around then...and "we" brought hats back...The Country Gents "followed"
72615 looked alot better when I got it. This is how it looked in 1977 after Randy Wood redid the finish
Yep..hats were in..and so was dressing decently..1979..Mark Newton on Guitar..Paul had left for the Osborne Bros
My brand new Paganoni mandolin..#29 1979
I "bailed" (as Dan puts it) on the KG when they went to Europe..but my new band kept on trucking. New Dawn 1981 at the last Redgate festival. Phil Leadbetter, Kent Leadbetter, me, Doug Johnson and Jimmy Millsapps
Darryl, those are some of the best photos I've seen on the Cafe in awhile. Probably my favorite thread in some time.
