Hello,
I am a flattop builder in LaGrange. Check out my website:

Thanks,

Re: Atlanta Mandolin Luthiers
I think Mart Jacobsen is in the ATL area as well.
Re: Atlanta Mandolin Luthiers
Builder or repair? As you know a luthier may specialize in one, t’other, or both.
Re: Atlanta Mandolin Luthiers
You could ask the Atlanta Mandolin Orchestra: https://www.atlantamandolins.com/
They surely know able luthiers.
Re: Atlanta Mandolin Luthiers
I do repair work and am in the Chattanooga area. I have considerable experience with vintage mandolins and guitars.

BB Poolman, what part of town are you in?... there are several good options, but since the metro Atlanta area is pretty big, where you are can help determine where you go.
Marty Jacobson is always a go to in my book! He's in the Smyrna/Mableton area about a 20 min drive for me from Marietta. Marty does great work all around and has helped me with several of my mandolins as well as my first build.
Atlanta Violins is north of the city in Roswell and has a few Mandolin luthiers on staff.
Maple Street Guitars is in town in Buckhead. But I think they are expensive and have a longer turnaround.
And Tom Haygood is Southwest of the city, in Peachtree city.
I'm sure there are others, but these are the ones I am aware of. Both Tom and Marty are active on the Mandolin Cafe and can be reached via MC Private Message

WAYYYYYYYYY more fun that sitting around talking for another hour about picks or fretwire! Count me in..... I'd get much more excited talking old cars; Do you still have the one you were showing off a couple of years ago? I think it was an old Corvair or something similar vintage....

Yeah, it's a '64 Corvair. It was my daily driver for a couple years, my brother has it now. It needs some custom sheet metal work to get it right, and he's a sheet metal pro who sets up fancy German metal folders. So he'll treat it better than I ever could.

My older brother gave me his '64 Corvair when he got his GTO. I was too young to legally drive at the time, 14 years old, he was 21. My cousin and I had a blast in the woods and on the backroads in that old Corvair.

I still don't know the secret. Every time I pour the beer into the mandolin, it doesn't disappear - it just runs out the holes.

Of course you have to use an oval hole for beer. F hole mandolins are for wine.
