I wonder if that guy can play Orange Blossum Special. :))
You did an awesome job. My soon to be wife would die to have one. She loves her viola.
I actually got one that just turned 5. He loves Bill Monroe for some odd reason.
He has the drive I think. He has a Fender A model that he picks on. :mandosmiley:
Doing well. Thanks for asking. I wish so bad that I could go to the Kamp for a whole week. Not this year. Maybe next. I do wanna stay in touch with ya though.
I appreciate everyones...
I can move around the mandolin some. Pick a few tunes here and there. But I really need instruction away from home. I work odd hours which limits my time and I can't drive an hour to get instruction....
Thats a nice mando. I would like one from the era.
I really have no business posting here but as a previous business owner I can say that this is no way to run a business. I am glad to see this out in the open. The is the "Word of mouth" per say in...
This be the new Kentucky KM 1500. Very very very nice. I saw one on Dennis's website. The Mandolin Store. Someone will score big on that one.
I don't post much but that mandolin is outstanding.
The Mandolin Store is top notch. If I had more money it would go to them. Dennis and crew are good folk.
I am glad to see this thread staying alive. Lots of very nice Kentucky's added. I wish I could compile pictures, people, serial numbers on a website like ibanezmandolins.com and the journal. That...
Howard that is a very nice example of a vintage KM. Looks to be side bound also and varnish. That a dream machine. I love it.
Yeah I am stupid. merci mon ami not mon cher.
merci mon cher for the photos. Glad to have ya here. Awesome Kentucky. Looks of the 80's. It looks kinda unusual to me. Top bound on the front but side bound on the back. Thanks again for sharing.
Sumi mandos has always been my favorite me and my buddy owns mandos made by him.
Me and my buddy could meet up with you halfway between m-town and kingsport somewhere and do a show and tell the sumi 1000 is my buddys very hard to tell the difference in tone between it and my 1500.
Ok here is a group shot of some Gibson killers. 80's Sumi KM1000, 90's Sumi KM1500 and last but not least 07 KM1000. You gotta lovem and this is just a great group shot. :mandosmiley:

Side bound just looks cleaner to me.
I talked to my buddy who is a kentucky mandolin genius about that model # he said they never made one with that model # he said it is probably a km-250s alot of people mistake the s for a 5. As for...
Pickguards just get in the way.
I have played alot of gibsons and passernigs and the old sumi's are better tone and volume for a fraction of the price. I have a 1500 and my buddy has a sumi 1000.what is your opinion on this?
I am sure the Voodoo might have made the KM1000 sound deferent but I hear they are coming stock sounding perfect. Mine is just stock with a setup from Dennis and/or Bryan at The Mandolin Store. I...
I definitely recommend the KM1000 over all other mandolins in the price range. And some even higher mandolins. I had a man that has been picking for about 50 years or longer play a Weber, KM1500 and...
I just wanted to say openly that these guys are A#1. I think people should show there appreciation more often to the guys that keep the goodies in stock and waiting on our next whim. It cost them a...
Ronnie is my favorite. Doyle would be my second out of that bunch.
