Totally agree and feel the same way about REM's Losing My Religion and The Goo Goo Dolls Iris which are the Maggie May equivalent for my generation... pop songs with Mandolin. (A side note, this is...
First off, I've never used one.
However, if you have the money to try one (or any accessory), and they are not that expensive, I don't see any reason not to give it a shot. You could always sell...
My delivery was initially scheduled for Jan 11th, it got pushed back to the 13th, read out for delivery on the 14th, and I finally received it yesterday (Jan 15th). It was only some picks... nothing...
Oh, of course it does! My bad, just couldn't put 2 and 2 together:))
I'm guessing OBS is for Orange Blossom Special but can't for the life of me figure out what FMB stands for???

Oh, no! It's a really cool sticker too! It went right on one of my cases :)
The Wegen TF120 is my favorite pick on all my mandolins.
First impressions of thhe picks in my pic that I just...
That was Allen and I agree. Red Haired Boy is one I play often as well :)
From your recommendation I made an order from Strings and Beyond for a couple "cheaper" picks. Shipping was quick, nice extras! Came in time for some picking this weekend!

It goes without saying... this surely is not a dumb question. But here are my thoughts...
When I first received my F style It wasn't so difficult to get used to using the scroll as a strap hanger...
I'd like to add to this that the Mandolin is used in more genres of music as mentioned many times already where the banjo, to the masses, seems like a one trick pony, which it's not.
:)) ok, I'll get right on that :))
:)) :)) :))
I'd like to add to use some of that time to listen to mandolin greats for inspiration (Dawg music is my go to) and do a string change :)
I've only ever been asked once to play Rawhide at a jam. I don't know it either. Time to learn :)
I too, like the NS Micro. Simple, small, inexpensive, and yes... seems accurate enough. I keep one in all my cases or just clipped on, which doesn't work with the snark or other larger clip on tuners.
One thing I like to do when I have extra time is to take tunes I already know and learn them up the neck in the same octave (using different strings) or and octave higher. It helps to find "new"...
Most folks, when they see me with my mandolin, ask if it's a banjo. I tell them yes and play Foggy Mountain Breakdown and Dueling Banjos. :))
Other folks ask if it's a Ukelele. I tell them yes and...
Welcome :)
Happy pickin', Zach
Thanks for the heads up! Those are nice little tuners :)
Haha! How I feel exactly! :))

Here's a thread discussing that Mandolin. :)
Happy pickin'
Short answer... with lots of practice ;)
I was going to post something similar. Loosen up your hand a bit. It may help.
Also, I played for about an hour this evening and I'm not sure if my thumb, in that area, even ever touched my...
