Jimmie Skinner!
I make 120 minute mix tapes of mandolin music every month or so.
I'll be at the game tonight.
I have found a few standard ragtime things
6-2-5-1 (over and over)
also, many tunes do a
1-3-6-2-5 to get to the five chord
1-4-1
1-2-5
Jeff, I will be there with that same mandolin without the snakehead. Listen for my new banjo mandolin carrying across the pond. Last year we camped waterfront under a few trees. I will keep my eye...
i just don't like the feel of a light pick, I can't play the way I do. Whether I play hard or soft is controlled in my wrist, I feel, but the pick still pushes against the string pretty hard either...
Wow, I live in Bridgewater, NJ!
my 03 ford taurus goes as far as your 67 corvette
I have been playing an ending run in A fiddle tunes on the a string with split strings. I find I can do it with just the tip of my finger and not my nail.
thanks man, the bickford stuff is really cool!
P.s. about fifteen minutes after this ended a bear came and ate all of our leftovers.
Just trying to bring you all into my fitful world.
What is life without a few mistakes?
Glad you all enjoy it, what a blast to play this stuff!
Those Johnson Resonators are really worth it.
i used to play in a band that could be considered folk/punk - Northern Aggression - still proud of that name.
I used whatever I could find in the spirit of the genre.
claughan - something to think about indeed!
It is an A-jr, not backlit in the video.
i just learned I Will Always Be In Love With You tonight!!!! I recorded it too!
I Will Always Be In Love With You
Good luck with your show!
Here is Too Long, but it is the Mississippi...
Thanks! I will check out those cuts. I was hoping to find some non-solo mandolin examples, like split-stringing in the middle o a bluegrass break.
That makes sense about the hot rize solo, it...
morning glory waltz
anybody else playing this or any o his other waltzes/tunes?
Next up on my list is I Will Always Be in Love With You, which I also have Jethro doing an Acoustic Disc record....
Coming home today listening to Hot rize play Pow Wow the Indian Boy it sounded like Tim O'Brien was splitting strings. Does anybody know any good recordings with string splitting?
I play baseball so did John Dilleshaw - he talks about it in a song he plays.
I WAS THERE! And really enjoyed your playing.
Here is the jAckson Stomp on my new Reliance Banjo Mandolin!
The Jackson Stomp
Wish I could be there!
Boy - there is a lot of country out there you are missing. I am into old-time more than bluegrass and the paralells between that time and now are endless.
Check out the Allen Brothers - Chain...
a flask of whiskey, a pine tar cloth wrapped in tin foil (helps keep the pick on my fingers) and a bag with a bridge and some picks
I have only been once and it was a blast! SOOOOO much music, and no pesky stage acts to interrupt the jamming.
