    Re: Gibson A-40

I think it looks awesome in white! But I did enjoy that pelham blue F5G as well and a good few of my guitars are white too so I must be partial to the colour. Would love to see an aged white F5G one...

    Re: Gibson head luthiers

Yeah completely agree. It kind of evolved to something else.. I don't think I can change the subject though at this stage. Happy for a moderator to change it to something more reflective of what it...

Thanks all for the input.. Below the updated list. Those with a * have a photo in this thread somewhere! There was an '81 F-5 signed by Donald Doans in the classifieds recently as well which I've...

    Re: Gibson head luthiers

If Stan Randell let various folks sign is there a chance it might be Marvin Lamb after all? That first name looks more like Marvin to me.

    Re: Gibson head luthiers

Thanks Trevor from saving this thread from obscurity! I believe it's Marvin Lamb, who later co-founded Heritage Guitars. I added him to the photoalbum on my Cafe profile a while ago but forgot to...

Re: My New Backup: 2000 Gibson F5-G

Congratulations! I love the look of that one, I've been tempted all three times it's been for sale on the classifieds over the last few years!
Happy to see it's found a good home!!
  7. Re: Excuse me, do you have change for a $100,000 bill?

I'd put it on an F-5. Refret it to make it playable. Sell the frets on eBay for $6k each and... hey, I just got myself a free Bill Monroe fretboard!

Anybody interested in buying some original...

Re: Two F-5 Block inlays... Any info?

NECK yes.. neck, not back... My mistake, sorry for the confusion!

And yes, I love the look of this era Gibson F5s. I got a 1966 last November that I absolutely adore and have played every day...

Re: Two F-5 Block inlays... Any info?

Forgot to mention that the one in the second auction has a 5-piece back so was built in 1966 or later.

Re: Two F-5 Block inlays... Any info?

I agree pricing is on the high side. Rudy's music has a stunning looking 1969 for sale for $4k. Haven't played it but it looks all original and in excellent condition.

    That second one has been...

They're dreaming to ask that price. Gruhn has a new one in stock for $2950:

Re: Sam Bush Master Model vs Sam Bush F5

Good points all, what I was really thinking was I wish Gibson made a proper 30's reissue. That was based on looks mainly as I love the way the Bush model looks with it's block inlays and Gibson...

Re: Sam Bush Master Model vs Sam Bush F5

I thought the Bush fern has a pointed bottom on the fretboard and the regular flowerpot Bush has the truncated Florida, but then I saw this one in the classifieds:130324
    Do they make the Bush...

Re: I hope I did not overpay

Don't worry too much about paying a few dollars too much in someone else's eyes. That's an exceptional maple back you've got there, it looks awesome. Enjoy it!

    Re: Monroe Biopic

I love Monroe, but I'm not sad if this never happens. Unless really well funded I can't picture anything but some cringeworthy mid-day TV movie full of mistakes.

I'm not anti Martin at all, in fact I own a bunch of them that I hope to keep for the rest of my life. I wish they would focus on some more affordable variety in their 45 line-up. The new OM45...
