I was able to repair it myself with a black Marks-A-Lot and a couple of coats of Guitar Polish. Now the ding is invisible and it didn't cost me a thing. Thanks to all of you who replied, though.

Is there any way to repair a small dent in a nitrocellulose finish. It is on the BACK of my instrument, and probably won't be seen by anyone except me. However, the mandolin is fairly new - I'm...
I've been eye-balling that PICK-N-GLIDER musicians chair for a couple of years or so, but can't make up my mind to spend that much money. Has anyone bought one? Is it as functional as the hype...
Mike Bunting:
You are correct! I am one of those old fellers (76 goin' on 90). I'm not giving up on the pinky, though. I started learning to play fiddle at age 50, and really had to...
How common is it for a decent mando player to NOT use his or her pinky? I have one of Butch Baldassari's instructional DVD's, and in it, how points out that he often used his ring-finger in lieu of...
Gregory Tidwell:
Hmmmmm! I live in North, Texas, and that's exactly the kind of weather we've been having, also. I reckon this is at least part of the answer. Thanks to everyone for your...
No, not really. It hangs (uncased) on the wall in an air-conditioned house - day and night.
What could be making my mando (The Loar LM-700-VS) go "sharp" a few hours after tuning it. I could sort of understand it's going "flat", but I can't figure this out. I'd appreciate any ideas...
I've had my LM-700 for almost six months, now, and - while the "chunkier" neck was the first thing I noticed about it - I've become accustomed to it, and like it, now.
What kind of polish is best for nitrocellulose finishes?
I'm playing The Loar LM-700 mandolin, using D'ADDARIO J74 Strings and a Wegen M200 pick, but my E strings just won't produce the desired volume or sustain beyond the fourteenth fret. Is there an...
I, too, now have a McClung armrest and a Tone-Gard. The additional weight doesn't seem to have any affect on me, and the TG does have an additional benefit that I haven't seen mentioned anywhere. ...
I've used Dunlop Big Stubby 2.0 mm picks ever since I started on the mandolin, with the exception of when I tried out the "V" picks for awhile. I found these too small for me. Now, I've just...
Yes, I put an armrest on mine, and it solved the problem completely. Now, I can play sitting OR standing.
OK, here come some more dumb questions:
(1) I want to put a small pickguard on my new The Loar LM-700-VS not only for
appearance, but to keep my fingers from dragging on the top of...
barrangatan,
Yes, it IS a handsome thing with all it's gold plated hardware and inlays . . . So, I suppose it was worth the extra money. I've put on a new bridge and heavier strings (D'ADDARIO...
I have recently bought The Loar LM-700. I am happy with my purchase, but I did not check out the LM-600 prior to buying the LM-700 so I'm not real certain as to the main differences between the...
I've been using the Dunlop Big Stubby 2.0mm. How do you think this would compare to the Wegen M200? I reckon I'll know in a little while, as I just ordered a couple of them. I thought I'd try...
I first started learning to play on an Epiphone MM-50, which had a somewhat flat neck. Now I'm playing a Loar LM700 which has a rounded "V" shaped neck. The feel, while not particularly...
I just received my new McClung armrest from Doug Edwards, today, and I'm already in love with it. I recognized it's benefits immediately, and I don't think can play without it, now. Many thanks...
I am seeking information on "arm rests". I often find myself sort of leaning on the top edge of the binding with my right arm . . . sometimes so hard that my circulation is practically cut off. ...
Jcoventry, Big Joe, Johnny60, Ian Rossiter, and Stephen Cagle:
Many thanks for the heads up on the D'ADDARIO J74's. It's hard to believe that strings can make such a big difference. ...
Another dumb question from a rank novice. I used D'ADDARIO J62 (.010 - .014 - .024 - .034) on my Epiphone MM-50 for over a year. They seemed to work very well, except the mandolin itself just...
Just got my LM700 back from the shop, where I had a broken bridge replaced. It, now, rings and sings just like th' big boys, and I have no more doubts that I made the right decision in trading in...
I - for sure - am going to enter this contest, 'cause - should I be lucky enough to win - it would solve a huge problem I suddenly found myself with. I only recently purchased a new The Loar...
