Great Stuff!
He did record an album with The Dap Kings, a horn section. "A Sailor's Guide to Earth" is really good as well. I love all of his projects so far. Had tickets to see him in Portland, OR earlier this...
Thanks. Can never get enough Jethro!
Great Stuff
Sweet. Was it a house concert? Have a good friend who at one time hosted a bunch of them. I used to attend many of them. Perhaps we met as I used to talk up all the mandolin guys that would come...
Thanks for doing these. Really enjoy them. Trying to figure out some new jazz licks and these are helpful.
Sad to hear about Ken's place. He was active in the bluegrass scene for years throughout Oregon. Haven't seen him at any jams for years, but I haven't attended in years either.
I live in Southern...
If I'm picking around the campfire on mando the fun bustouts that people always enjoy are Cantina Band from Star Wars, Linus and Lucy theme, maybe some fast fiddle tunes, or some Django stuff Nuages,...
Very nice
Howdy,
Fellow SW Oregonian here. Hilltop is the best music store in the region that I have found since Cripple Creek closed. I have tried some mando's there, good varied selection for the area....
Grooving, I love it!
I'm in. I love Jethro.
The Rhythm Future Quartet has some gypsy swing backing tracks that I discovered a couple weeks ago. Fun stuff. Features occasional Cafe contributor Jason Anick.
Rhythm Future Play Along Tracks
Great stuff! One of my favorite melodies.
There's no money above the 5th fret.
I never tabbed it out. I figured out the basic chords on guitar years ago and just play them on the mandolin. To me, the mandolin register fills in the the higher intro licks and sounds pretty good....
Good stuff.
Big Phan here too. Sample in a Jar is fun on mandolin. The intro is easy and sounds great on mando. We do that and Sparkle at some live gigs.
Awesome! I'll be sure to check it out.
Surprised I didn't see any mention of this yet considering his past work with Don Julin.
Great new album from Billy Strings came out last Friday. I've listened to it a couple times and enjoy it...
I just picked up a used DP24. Hoping to start recording some tracks in the coming weeks.
I have had a few smaller 4 track machines so I am not totally green. This unit seems to have the specs for...
Very nice. The details are exquisite. As are many of his pieces.
I have an engraved pocket knife by his father (also my great-uncle) Bill Lister. Big Bill Lister was a very tall man known as the...
Happy Belated Jethro! One of my favorites.
Awesome! Great names to be playing with. Best of luck.
