Hi M19 - sounds like you have the same instrument I do.
The strings are not the same - they are both elixir 52-32-22-13, but the Octolindo has PB and the Northfield 80/20.
The northfield is arch...
No...I definitely shouldn't...made a promise that this black one is the end of the upgrades!
Ha, yeah I guess I could have said that. Blacktop is the northfield, sunburst is the Octolindo.
Since I have, for a little while at least, both of these instruments, I figured I'd record a quick side-by-side demo of them. Not the best audio/video setup I know (laptop camera and AKG Lyra...
Just to follow up - the Tri-Action works well. I had to tighten the spring a hair to get it to hold, and it's not pulling things out of tune.
I'd definitely return it - it's only doing half the job you bought it for! I use a TC electronic polytune, but there are probably lots of others that will fit your needs. That Stage Right above...
Ha, I just bought a Tri-Action on a whim yesterday, after seeing it on sale at guitar center and noticing the adjustable tension. Haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but I am optimistic.
Thanks all - I have a couple Shubbs for guitar but the neck is too fat for them too. I see they make a thick neck model (S3V)...that may be the ticket. Would be nice if it didn't stick out too...
Thanks all - so far G7th are flat not radiused, Elliott are >$200, and spring-loaded capos pull stuff out of tune...
I'm looking for a new capo - I got a northfield archtop OM and the neck is ever so slightly too thick for my Shubb C5r. I like to capo up on the 5th fret and pretend I have a mandola.
Are there...
You could try lighter E strings but I doubt that will make a substantial difference. I think in general we just need larger-bodied OMs to get a "balanced" sound, like one would get from a guitar. I...
Picked up a Northfield OM...nice to be able to compare these in hand.

That really is astonishing. I have heard for years that the correct way to install outlets is with the ground plug facing up, to prevent this exact type of thing from happening (something metal...
I know there are lots of other mic options, but I believe the ATM350 is pretty darn good for the price. It's worth trying to make it work!
I just sold the mic, so my part must end. I'd be happy...
Sound through the mic doesn't seem to be affected, but it was definitely a concern. At 3 inches away the magnetic field is pretty weak (below 0.01 lbs), and if I had a mic with a longer neck it...
I have been using an ATM350 for a year or so now, using a DPA body clip and attaching the microphone clamp directly to that body clip. It is kinda secure-ish, and I've never really liked it. I've...
Thank you very much. Got one on the way.
To get a reasonably playable tension at G2 on a 14" scale, you need something like a .080" string and it probably will sound terrible.
Hi all
I'm looking at buying an archtop OM online - does anyone have measurements of the neck, or could perhaps take some quick measurements if you own one? None of the usual shops seem to have...
acousticguitarforum.com is free to join and there are a million rambling lunatics over there, some of whom probably will recognize this instrument...
Not sure what the difference is between the various MM68 flavors, but you can easily see what's sold on Reverb:

If it was due to the nut, you'd only have buzz in the open position. How much is "slight relief"? You may need more.
Those are loop end. OP could probably put a ball in there, but that would be a finicky process that doesn't seem worth it to me...
