    Re: Tabledit files--crosses, airplanes, etc.

I don't experience this on a mac but that doesn't help you. Maybe try printing to a pdf file and see if it is the same. Can you share a pic of the printout?

Re: Mandolin case comparison (for A-models)

Thanks for this write-up. I have a Calton and Travelite and have been using the latter pretty much all the time recently though it is annoying it doesn't stay open on it's own which makes it's hard...

I too was lucky to have been at that Symposium and took a few classes with him. Learning Rebecca from the composer was a treat and his sunny wife Joyce and daughter were there and really seemed to...

    Hi Nick,

I think there are a bunch of us pre-occupied for whatever reason with instrumentals. (Maybe there sb a dedicated section for instrumentals in this forum.) Anyway, for me, I feel my...

+1 on using the free tool Musescore. It's really a great exercise to transpose IMO.

Re: DO I need a better mandolin?

IMHO, if you arestill inspired to play and learn every day then you don't need an upgrade yet. That said, there's nothing like an upgrade to inspire you to play more and get better. Of course, YMMV....
  14. Re: Mandolin Album Release by Dave Berry & Friends

Thanks much Don. I appreciate those kind words. You were an early inspiration back in the Comando days :)

  16. Re: Mandolin Album Release by Dave Berry & Friends

A quick update. There was a nice review of the album by the highly regarded author Lee Zimmerman (No Depression, Bluegrass Today ...) on Bluegrass Today. For what it's worth, this track Mussel Rock...

Andy's the best. We just saw him in a fantastic Breakfast Special reunion show in a small club in New York with Tony Trischka, Kenny Kosek, and Michael Daves.

    Re: Picking Fiddle Tunes?

I'm a tad confused by the question. Are you asking why mandolin and guitar players would want to use the term "fiddle tunes" or why we would want to play them? For the latter, I pretty much play and...

Re: High Country Snows- Dan Fogelberg

I loved that album though I was really into him in college. It kind of reminds me of the Manassas albums, rockers showing some bluegrass love. I guess Emmylou's Roses in the Snow is kinda like that.

Re: Mandolin solo gigs with backing tracks?

Yes, a pedal is always going to give more flexibility. I don't know if you have used Strum Machine but it has some interesting features like adjusting the timing of each backing track (bass, guitar,...

Re: Mandolin solo gigs with backing tracks?

It's a good question. I think it depends on the venue. I've been known to play outside at the local cafe with a Bluetooth speaker and people like and don't notice at all. I even use Strum Machine...
