    Re: Traditionally voiced A-style?

Look for a used Gibson A5L or an older Flatiron. You should be able to find both for $3k or less. Kimble makes a mean A5 in the $5k range. Same for Paul Duff.

    Re: Tuning up

True...but mandolin is made to be played in ANY and ALL keys.

Now, if your arrangement needs particular open strings, a capo may make sense.

Re: I don't like F styles. Anyone else?

I've found that when you cook brussel sprouts you should cook them the same way I cook Kale. I mix in a little olive oil as it makes both of them much easier to scrape off the plate into the garbage.

Re: I don't like F styles. Anyone else?

It was Jan. 1945 and being there was only one A5 around at that time the odds are he would have not found that one. More likely it could have been a mid 20's Fern. Remember Bill knew brother Charlie...

Ha, ha, that maybe true but at the time I remember a lot of girls liked disco.

    That other joke,

‘Then why are you at the disco?’ -because that’s...

Wow, from the Italian tradition I come from, mandolin w/o tremolo doesn't exist! It's the essential sound of the instrument.

    Thanks for being honest, though.
