  1. Re: Tuner button replacement for 1925 Gibson A Snakehead

There are some waverly tuners on ebay that would probably work for you. The tuners below need parts but you have extra parts. There are other more expensive options on ebay too - better than using...

    Re: Speaking Of Stradolins

I have three Strads and each has a different voice. Two sound better than my 1916 Gibson A-2 or my 1934 A-1 or my Martin 1956 Martin 2-15 or some of my hand-built instruments - louder and better tone...

I am seeing a different f-hole where a circle was drilled in the middle. The finish is close possible done by a different elf.

    Re: Orpheum B/Strad-O-lin 1950s

I am not a Strad expert but I have never seen this f-hole on an SOL. I bet the person who refinished it drilled a round hole at the center point of each f-hole to achieve this shape. I sorta like...

    Re: Orpheum B/Strad-O-lin 1950s

I would love to have it but I have been fortunate to find lower prices on my Strads. However, I don't think the price is out of line considering the sound quality and playability of these...
  6. Re: AI and music: Billie Eilish, Sheryl Crow and Jon Bon Jovi

George Orwell foresaw this music in 1948 when he wrote 1984 - “The tune had been haunting London for weeks past. It was one of countless similar songs published for the benefit of the proles by a...

    Re: FB SOL Incognito

After the Strad-O-Lin name showed up in the ad it sold quickly. Someone should have fun restoring it and it will be as good as any $125 mandolin around. And some of these have painted binding, some...

    Re: My First Mandolin

Take a look inside the bass side sound hole and you will probably find a date stamped. This model looks like 30's or early 40's.

    Re: FB SOL Incognito

I admit I have Strad Fever but its not a problem. I can handle it. But I have continued to check this listing everyday since it appeared. After all, $125 is the average price I paid for my 3 Strads....
  11. Re: Where to find replacement pick guard 1953 A style martin mand

I have a 56 model 2-15. I could trace the pickguard for you. If you have the hardware, it would be an easy fix. Similar black pickguard material is available.

    FB SOL Incognito

I know I am not the only MC mutant who likes to restore Strad-O-Lins. I don't want this one so I thought I would share. Here is a chance to make your own Strad-O-Lin stencil because the instrument...

    Stradolin fret slots

I thought I had come across a good deal on a 1942 Strad-O-Lin. It was the kind with the white top purfling, 22 frets, and the faux tortoise tailpiece cover and dated 1942. But I realized the frets...

    Re: Old Gibson needs fixin'

It should be easy to disassemble. Looks like a 1935ish A-50. I love the finish. I see a neck reset, new bridge, and new nut, besides what you might find inside after the back comes off. It would be...

    Re: Gibson A-50 (43-CPR 7)

Before spending money on an appraisal I would suggest buying a set of A-style Kluson tuners and strings from Stewmac.com (maybe $100 with shipping). Check out Reverb.com for Gibson A-50 mandolins....

    Re: Gibson A-50 (43-CPR 7)

I think that logo started in about 1947. The crumbly tuner buttons also point to that time frame. They usually range between 1000 and 1500 depending on condition.

  23. Silvertone Mandolin Booklet and Guarantee

Those Gibsons with dual end pins bring a premium price. Plus, this was the year when the tailpiece went on before the stain. Collectors notice these things.
