Playing the Upright Bass made aware of my bad timing. The fiddle made me like different tunes. Both instruments have made my mandolin playing better. In my world anyway.
Haven't posted in quite some time here. Life cycle change I guess. Was thinking about Journeybear who lives in Key West. Has anyone heard from him? Hope he is well and that he evacuated Irma's Path.
Another thought would be to request a jam with him playing his upright bass. He's more than likely love that. Can't say enough good things about David Houchens.
I've been loving on Stelling #144 for about 2 years now. David Houchens was the sole builder and made my mandolin in his shop. A little secret here; Get David to send you pictures of your builds...
I had posted earlier that I was considering a Bass purchase, Well Opportunity knocked and I opened the door. Got an Engelhardt that was prepared by Fretwell's out of Staunton, Va. It's a 2012 EC1....
Looks to be a Blue Chip Pick.
The guy truly is a hoot. I flirted with buying an upright this winter past, but, put it on the back burner for now. I was planning on getting an Engelhard from Freewill Bass of Staunton, Virginia....
Today I received my Frank Crank Winder and it is, All That! Pricey I admit but hey; You receive 4 Gryphon round stickers and 3 of their picks. Shipping from Cali. to Va. was free and took only 3...
Wonderful story and song. Thank you for posting it.
Supa! I always enjoy these things where one player does it all and in this case, very well. Thanks for posting it.
Probably my most favorite movie of all time w/ Maureen O'Hara and John Wayne. "The Quiet Man-dolin"
Just read the last post and cannot believe what just happened. DITTO on the above post!
Any thoughts about Re Gifting yet?
Welcome; You could definitely have done worse. I mostly lurk as well, but have loved this site for the knowledge and have also picked up quite a few new songs to pick on. The moderators also do an...
Now that is just having some plain good old fun! Thanks!
I have enjoyed playing this song with my 15 year old grandson. he plays guitar and bass. Great song.
She sure is purdy! I even like the fitted case. It would be easier to lug around than the larger rectangular cases. Something I noticed and it is probably nothing at all but, it seems that your...
I've found that My CT55 Blue Chip is even better when used for Tiddly Winks. Who knew!
Kind of an apology here for Ivan as I thought that Lebeda used The Allen AR2 T/P. Agreed that the T/P on the left in post #4 is not the Allen AR2 screw hole's twin.
Ivan; The AR2 Allen makes will not be a direct replacement for their MR2. Their MR2 is their version of the Monteleon T/P. I contemplated changing out the AR2 that come on my Stelling to the MR2, but...
Thanks for one super laugh. I got the tears too. That sure puts a light on society.
Fine looking instruments David. I also took a peek at that S-5 in the back ground. Looks like it is on schedule.
Sweet pickin and a perfect tune to bring her out! Thanks so much!
Lars; That was just perfect! Thanks so much.
Yes the comparison would be good for you to hear. Let me know if that is possible for your time schedule. I'll put on some new strings and come on over.
