Re: Any mandolin with a portrait on the pickguard?

I meant on the original poster's mandriola. I wonder why they built it with the 4 sets of 3 strings, a love of tuning?

Re: Oval Hole A model classical mandolin needed

Yes, but if this guy is in his 60's and just wants to enjoy playing Baroque pieces he likes...............why not take a shortcut.
    Life is short.

I had this problem until I bought a Blue Chip TD-40. It is smooth for tremolo but stays in place in your fingers................amazing!

Poll: Re: How often do you tune your Mandolin?

I tune after every song. The better your ears get at hearing pitches, the more you will want to tune.
and.....experienced players can tell you're a hacker if you're not in tune.

Thank you for the replies so far. In my original post I should have said preamp, not pickup.

    Any Ovation MM-68 users:
Do you notice any difference in tone and/or battery life between the early 1990's OP-24 pickup and the later Op-24+ pickup?

    Thanks,

I am thinking of having the neck slimmed down like my F style and an Ovation I own.

    Re: Arpeggio's

Arpeggios are the notes that are in the chords, when you strum a G chord you are playing the notes G, B and D. So arpeggios are the building blocks of creating your own solos.

Re: Does my mandolin sound cheap???

Try using a rest stroke. As you pluck the note, push your pick inward and stop on the next string. That will bring out the best tone on your instrument.
