    i recently ran into a fiddle maker and he was trying to sell fiddle tops that did not pass the tap tone test ... i asked do ya get a lot of them and he said maybe 25% ...i guess thats not surprising...

    its probably better than ya think ...my friend walked into morgan music in southern missoura and walked out with the best sounding mando in the place. it was a $3500 northfield and he picked it over...

    there was a thread a year or so ago that showed you how how to adapt the a.t.35 to a clip from dpa 4099 (a $600 mike) i tried it and it worked great.it does not clip on your tail piece .... it sounds...

    i started out as a guitar player and i have big hands .... my 1st mando was a normal neck but way to small for me.... i had custom made mando and he told me mine was the biggest neck he has ever...

    no one uses mikes anymore for instruments.....they only use vocal mikes ... then everyone plugs in with a d.i and effects and everything is run thru the p.a
    then with in ear monitors you can crank...

    i bought a custom mando sight unseen and it just did not cut it. a $4000 northfield blows it out of the water..... so some of these high end mando's are spotty to say the least ...they might make 60...

    Most mando's are made for medium gauge strings and if you get in jam with real players your gonna get blown out with wimpy light gauge stings. so bulk up you will get used to it ...and most of all...
