Howdy Campers!
Who else in here got one of the newest batch? I'm looking forward to getting my paws on the lone A5 in that batch. Will report back on #87 when I get ahold of it!

Just took in an old Stiver F5 from 97', and boy oh boy...
I was always a bit interested, but I was playing RD, Gilchrist, Ellis, Kimble, Master Model, Etc...So without ever even trying a Stiver I...
I'm wondering if there are any owners of current master models, and if so, how do you like them?
How do they stack up against the master models of the early 2000's?
What's the ballpark price...
Glad you found your pick!
I had tried several Bluechip picks and never really loved them until I tried a rounded bevel(no speed bevel). Now I have a hard time switching to anything else....CT55...
I've played with and without. Bottom line for me, it neither helps nor hurts. The one thing you should know is that for me, once I played for a few weeks with the armrest, it took some getting used...
I had played guitar for almost 20 years when I first picked up a mandolin. I was really into fiddle tunes and started getting fairly proficient at them on the guitar. I noticed that the mandolin...
It's around 6 months old at this point. I've played the heck out of it daily and it's already turning into a bit of a beast. Put simply, I don't miss my Gilchrist or Reischman voiced Red Diamond,...

I'd give Matt a call. He's a great guy and super talented. He works in South Portland in John Slobod's (circa guitars) shop. ...
I have a couple BC picks and while I like them, I seem to always fall back on the Wegen mandolin picks (the rounded ones).
Larry, Do you own a Brentrup? Would love to see a photo!
Haven't played Bibey's, but I can tell you I've A/B'd mine with some pretty heavy hitters and the Hansen has more than held it's own.
Maybe a touch wider (if that), nothing substantial. Mine was in the same batch as Bibey's. I believe there were 4 total in the batch and mine was the only one that had sugar maple back and sides....
Sblock...Why do you care so much if this guy buys a bunch of Mandolin's? I'm honestly just curious.
Give a try now...I think I had it uploaded as private on YouTube
Loving this mandolin. I've been meaning to get a sound sample up and finally got around to it (hopefully the link works!)
I've got to say it...I've owned/played mandolins from some of the...
I'll try to get a sound clip up in the next week or so...
Thought I'd post a few photos of this new F5 that I just received from Hugh Hansen in Nashville. Obviously it's still new so it's tough to compare it to instruments that have been played in for...
This is the correct answer!
Bindings scraped!

It IS killing me a bit. I'm going a bit crazy to be honest!
I just wanted to post a couple photos of my Hugh Hansen F5 that's nearing completion. He's just building the main body of the finish and will be scraping the binding in a couple weeks.
I also had...
I was starting to think I was going bonkers...I tend to agree completely with all this^^
I honestly wasn't going to write anything back to you, but I just went to the classifieds and the first ad I looked at described a Gibson F9 as DRY and powerful in tone. I'm starting to think that...
I was just trying to explain my opinion as best I could although it may not be the easiest subject to delve into while not in the same room with a bunch of mandolins. Patronizing folks from behind a...
Less dry=more overtones
tighter=more focused
In the previous post i meant that the tone bar stuff was drier sounding with more midrange.
