Han's guitars are just beautiful, not only the tone but the craftsmanship is out of this world.
Skip (Grey Eagle) has been making some great mandolins - my recent a' is a beaut w/ great tone, had it at a recent jam and couldn't get it back - thanks Bill ( James) lol
My jam is about the social aspect, most of us are intermediate players w/ one adavanced player in the mix. I think getting together w/ friends of the same mind and goal really. Our goal is friends...
I'll try and post some pics next week - Skip is a character, also great at building guitars & banjos as well.
Let me preface by saying that I was without a mandolin for awhile due to divorce other issues, but now for the good stuff ; Let start with the ' Grey Eagle", having owned a ' Grey Eagle" F5 before...
I talked w/ Lloyd last Sat & I believe he said he was going.
Let me preface this by saying, " if I were to teach a grip I'd go w/ the Marshall, Thile tech..etc Players that come to mind that use pencil/3 finger = Robin Bullock, Ray Lagere, Wayne Benson, David...
Not to be argumentative, but that's not true - many top mandolin players use the pencil grip, or three finger grip - whatever works best IMO.
Received the small triangle (little smaller than i thought, but my fault) & really a great bevel, nicely done, good bargain IMHO.

I must have too much time on my hands this morning, but was thinking who in ' Holly wood' would be a good candidate to play Bill Monroe" in a movie about his life. My choice would be Russell Crowe -...
That's funny about the " traditionalist comment," as I heard Sierra say awhile back that she was leaning away from the more modern stuff & going the traditional route. I guess, everybody has the...
yep, or ' silk & steel & a weber brekke bridge, also consider most new mandolins are on the bright/tight side at first.
Hmm, & I thought of moving there, but isn't the ' Mandolin Store' in the area ?

I played the one in mpls in case someone was interested ( not me) & I'd say for the money a good deal - the tone was bright, very loud, but not tinny. In comparing a K 1000 I used to own, the Loar...
I had a ' Pricetone' mandolin that was very bright, so after putting some S&S on it changed it for the better, took the harshness away.
M.B.O.T.M.A - Minnesota bluegrass old time music association for us northerners, some good festivals winter and summer, a good bluegrass store, jams all over the cities.:mandosmiley:
Just saw Lloyd at our festival, truly a great individual & a fine guitar/mandolin maker.
